How to Prepare for a Job in Aviation

Textron Aviation recommends that young adults interested in this field should:

  • Take on a leadership role. Lead a club, team or event.
  • Flex your technical skills. Help a parent fix a car. Join your school’s robotics team. Take Engineering or Manufacturing-focused classes.
  • Learn to be comfortable communicating. Take a speech class or write for your student newspaper. Join a debate or mock trial team.
  • Gain industry exposure. Job shadow a professional or ask to tour a business. Research available high school internships. Identify a mentor that can advise you on your educational and career path.
  • Push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Trying new things that aren’t necessarily in your wheelhouse will only help you learn and grow.
