Respiratory therapists (RTs) administer care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary conditions, under supervision of a physician and by prescription. They determine the best method of administering inhalants, set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, operate equipment to carry out treatments, and monitor the patient’s responses to therapies.
