Sarah Weber
Pruning Supervisor
Growing up, I could never decide what I wanted to do for a career. I had so many different interests and bounced around so many things — I couldn’t have guessed I’d be where I am today.
I became intrigued by agriculture in middle school. The passion of my eighth grade ag teacher was contagious, and the subject quickly became one of my favorites. More specifically, I was intrigued by horticulture (the practice and study of all kinds of plants) when looking through classes to take at community college. I knew I was interested in these things, but I had no idea they could turn into a career!
Today, I’m a pruning supervisor at a landscaping company. I oversee the maintenance and care of trees and shrubs at all the properties we manage. To set myself up for success in this position, I earned my associate degree and always wore my passion for this industry on my sleeve. I aim to be a great team member and am always willing to work in any area of the business I’m needed.
To help determine if this could be a field for you, try to take non-traditional classes (like anything related to agriculture) in high school. These courses should be pretty eye-opening.
If you enjoy working outdoors and enriching the lives of others through the beauty of nature, this could be a great fit for you!
